Who is Arian Simone? She’s worked on all the major films you’ve probably seen, she runs a magazine and hosts a podcast with tips from celebrities she personally knows, she created a foundation to inspire teen girls to be fearless and live their dreams…and she was once homeless! Wait. What? (You gotta read her book)
I met Arian Simone at a Black Public Relations Society Meeting years ago in Detroit. We were PR pros networking. We “clicked.” I was very impressed with her humility and sweet spirit. Now I say this because one could get a “big head” when you are the publicist that has worked on over 20 hit Hollywood movies, including:
• No Good Deed starring Idris Elba and Taraji P. Henson
• Not Easily Broken starring Morris Chestnut and Taraji again
• Stomp the Yard starring Meagan Good (they are buddies and Arian went to her Hollywood-style wedding to Devon Franklin at in Malibu).
• This Christmas staring Loretta Devine and Chris Brown
• Welcome Home, Roscoe Jenkins starring Martin Lawrence, James Earl Jones, Margaret Avery, Cedric ‘The Entertainer’, Nicole Ari Parker, Mike Epps and Mo’Nique.
She even worked on Whitney Houston’s last movie, Sparkle. She’s a publicist to the stars and she’s a star in her own right. She’s a serial entrepreneur having her owned a boutique while in college at Florida A & M and once owning an affluent beauty bar in downtown Birmingham, Michigan. She’s a visionary, a trend setter and lifestyle entrepreneur who is fun, fly and fabulous! So, I caught up with this jet-setter and asked her a few questions:
What advice would you give to an entrepreneur trying to break into the speaking industry – what should they brand first? The advice I would give to an entrepreneur trying to break into the speaking industry is to establish the success in your business first before speaking. You can only lead people where you have been. You don’t want to be one of those speakers who is just motivational with no tangible track record. You want to have a solid base of success and then share. Share from the heart, share the truth and be transparent and people will connect with you!
I’ve known you for a while and so proud of you. You’ve “rebranded” yourself to include other things – including publisher, podcaster – what’s next? I actually don’t keep rebranding myself at all, it’s been the same message all along, it just shows up in more extensions but it’s not a rebrand, there are just new channels to spread the same message. We are relaunching Fearless as a media outlet but it’s not rebranding. Our focus right now is our 2017 Fearless Reloaded Conference this November in Atlanta.
